The album Sun & Earth begins a musical description of play. In an exit from depression, as represented by Water & Sky, one does not necessarily find “happy”, whatever that may be. Rather, one discovers the ability to play. If there is an opposite to depression, the ability to create the grounds in which one can play would be a major characteristic.
The first track, “Above” presents an overview of the album. As I tend to use nature as metaphor in much of my work, I make no exception here. “Above” is a flight above ground witnessing the possible. It is a vision of the potential and the unknown. It is a desire to discover and explore.
One never knows what lays ahead. In depression, this unknowing is intolerable. In play, the unknown presents beauty and awe awaiting discovery.
